why the arts?

I LOVE Fashion. Interior Design. Textiles. 

It took me a while to understand that what I really loved at the core of it all was design.

The way patterns and colors collide evoking feelings I never knew I had. The way light plays gently off the free flowing textures of fabrics.

why do i love photography??

I love to help capture every single one of your moments the way you want to remember it. The warm cookie kid smiles, bubble bath babies, furry friend snuggles and twinkle light romances.

Some people get lost in books, some in movies and video games. Not me. I can’t sit still and my mind is always racing.

I get lost when I get behind my camera. When I am analyzing every detail of what’s behind my viewfinder. When I’m circling a tiny toad just to make sure I’m looking him square in the eyes. When I'm propping a cup of coffee with a frothy little heart, when I hand a bag full of sparkles to a tiny little lady in a tutu with twinkly lights glimmering in the background. 

What I love most is that when I get lost in time… I’m actually stopping time. Just for a second – and it’s my own little form of time travel.

Some people think it’s about the placement, the head tilt, and the reflector but in my opinion… the thing that really makes a great photo – is the moment behind it.

The tears in a mom’s eyes as she realizes her baby is growing up.  The way a little boy’s eyes light up when his brand new puppy rolls in the sunny grass because it feels so warm.  When a bride shares a tender moment with her lifelong best friend at her bridal shower.

I never feel better than when I can send someone a photo that makes him or her tear up. When a photo evokes emotion – that’s pretty powerful stuff.
